Based on E.M. Forster's novel and directed by David Lean, the film delves in the cultural and class biases of 1930's India. Judy Davis stars as an impressionable woman who travels
to India, to visit her fiancé, the city magistrate, accompanied by his mother (Peggy Ashcroft). The women accept an invitation for an excursion to a cave area by an Indian physician (Victor Banerjee),
and in an odd turn of events the doctor is accused of attempted rape. Also with James Fox, Alec Guinness, Nigel Havers, Richard Wilson and Antonia Pemberton. [PG - 2:43]
